Creating the soft but shiny cheeks and firm skin of a toddler in a pencil drawing is a challenge.
Attempting the three-dimensional effect with pencil and paper, something I think of as sculpting with my pencil, is always what I aim to achieve, and I hope, usually do.
Bringing out the character in each portrait, being able to communicate in my mind with each one is, to me, an essential part of achieving the desired result.
